Chinook Salmon Are Putting on a Show

A special congratulations goes to Don Marshburn for landing a new lodge record 32 pound Chinook salmon, an unforgettable catch and a milestone worth celebrating.

Beyond this impressive fish, anglers have regularly been landing beautiful Chinook in the 21 to 26 pound range, and all signs indicate the strong salmon fishing will continue through the remainder of the season.

The Bait Is Here and So Are the Predators

One of the most encouraging signs for the remainder of the season is the abundance of bait throughout the fishing grounds.

Large schools of herring and needlefish have been spread across the area, creating ideal feeding conditions for salmon, halibut, and lingcod alike. When bait is plentiful, predators stay nearby, and that is exactly what we have been seeing all season long.
